A police constable was injured in an accident on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in the district late last night.
Constable Dinkar Gavit (42), attached to Kasa police station, learnt last evening that an accident had taken place at Medwan Khind in Palghar tehsil, but when he visited the site, he found out that there had been no accident.
When he was returning to police station on his motor-bike, a truck knocked him down within the limits of Manor police station in the district.
He was admitted to Wohkardt hospital at Mulund. Police were looking for the truck driver who fled from the spot.
