Police constable kidnapped by Maoists

A police jawan was abducted by suspected Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said today.

"Constable Kalmu Hidma was abducted last evening near Puswada villageunder Polampalli police station areawhile he was on way to Puswada CRPF camp," a senior police official told PTI.

Belonging to district police, Hidma was initially posted with Polampalli police station but currently he was attached with CRPF camp at Puswada for operational purposes, he said.

Hidma had gone to his native place, Polampalli to celebrate Diwali festival with his family, the official added.

"On Monday, while he was going back to the camp on his bike he was intercepted by Naxals between Kankerlanka and Puswada. Since then he was missing," he said.
 

Security forceshave been rushed to search the area where the incident was reported, but no communication has been received so far about his whereabouts, the official said.
