A police constable heading for election duty was killed and 10 other people were seriously injured in a in bus-tempo collision at a village here today.
The accident happened on Vikramgadh-Manor Road in the district's Khopoli village when the tempo collided with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation bus coming from opposite direction, said assistant traffic inspector R S Pandre of MSRTC's Palghar division.
In the mishap, constable Naresh Pawar (35), attached to the Thane district police, died on the spot.

He was travelling in the tempo for poll duty for Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation elections being held today, an officer at Thane district police headquarters said.
The ten injured bus passengers, including its driver, were admitted to Manor hospital, an officer in-charge of MSRTC's disaster management cell said.
The body of the constable was sent for postmortem.
The tempo driver fled from the spot after the mishap.
