Police constables suspended over dereliction of duty

Three police officials in Mathura have been suspended for alleged dereliction of duty in an incident of loot two days ago, a senior official said today.

"Beat constables -- Surendra singh, Ratan Singh and Dhirendra Kumar have been suspended after a loot of over Rs 5 lakh from a trader on Tuesday night in Shergarh town," SSP Mohit Gupta said.

He said three police teams have been formed to nab the robbers.

According to police report, trader Mahesh Agrawal of Shergarh town was shot in his leg when he objected to two youths who looted him while he was going home with a bag containing Rs 5.75 lakh cash.
 

The youths shot him and fled with the bag containing the money, police said.

At the time of loot, the beat constables were not found in the area, they said.
