Police have destroyed a naxal camp in Kanker district and recovered explosives and weapons from the spot.
The naxal camp in the forest of Chilparas village situated under the Koyalibeda police station limits of Kanker district was destroyed after an encounter with police, said a police officials of Kanker district.
The joint team of Border Security Force, district police, DRG, STF was carrying out Inter District Joint Operation against the naxalites from October 24. When the team was returning yesterday it was fired at by the ultras, said police, adding, security forces fired in retaliation.
The naxals fled from the spot after the firing, said police.
Police have recovered a rocket launcher, one mortar, hand grenades, guns, one rifle,, detonators, gelatin and naxal literature from the spot, said the official.
