BJP MP Sanjeev Baliyan has alleged that police have registered cases against him on the direction of senior SP leaders.

"Cases were registered against me on the direction of senior SP leaders because Uttar Pradesh is under Samajwadi Party's rule," he said yesterday.

A case was registered against Baliyan yesterday for allegedly calling Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan a "terrorist".

The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing has also boycotted the District plan meeting held here today under the Chairmanship of Khan, accusing him of being responsible for the Muzaffarnagar riots.

SP had lodged a complaint on Tuesday at Gunj police station against Baliyan stating that the minister's speech has created communal tensions.

Khan and Baliyan were locked in a war of words on December 21 with both accusing each other of indulging in communal politics.
