Police fire in air to disperse supporters of a criminal

A police team headed by Chausa police station's Station House Officer (SHO) Prashant Mishra was attacked by a mob with sticks and other blunt objects prompting the cops to fire three rounds in the air to disperse the attackers who were supporters of notorious criminal Shahjahan, the SHO said.

There was no casualty or injury to anyone, he said.

The police later chased the criminal and arrested him and seized a double barrel gun, 12 live ammunition and five used ammunition from him, he said.

Shahjahan was wanted in a dozen cases of murder, loot and other offences, he added.
