Pakistan police today claimed to have foiled a major terrorist bid by seizing a explosive-laden car during a raid at a militant hideout in the city.
The Crime Investigation Department SSP Chaudhry Aslam told PTI they had conducted raid in the Surjani Town area on a tip off from one of the four activists of the Tehreek-e-Taliban arrested in the city earlier this week.
"We raided a house where militants offered strong resistance and after a exchange of fire our approver, Aslam Mehsud was killed and two policemen injured," Aslam said.

He said the police recovered a explosive-laden car from the house besides a huge cache of arms and ammunition which were intended to carry out terrorist attacks in the city ahead of the General Elections.
The TTP has threatened to strike at candidates belonging to the three main parties in the fray for national and provincial assembly seats in Pakistan's biggest city because of their secular policies.
