Police today thwarted the attempt of a Hindu organisation to stop a Lahore-bound bus here, and took its chief into custody.

Hindu Jagriti Manch's Punjab unit chief Mandeep Bakshi was detained and their plan to stop Lahore-bound bus from Jalandhar and Kartarpur was thwarted, a police official said.

According to Bakshi, the organisation was protesting against the Pakistan government for not taking appropriate steps against some organisations which allegedly encourage anti-Hindu and anti-Sikh activities in that country.

He alleged that Hindu and Sikh religious symbols were being misused, besides the community members were ill-treated and forced to convert to Islam.

"Indian government must raise this issue on international platform so that this unholy act by Pakistan is stopped," Bakshi said.
