Police resorted to baton charge to scuttle the march, started from JKLF headquarters at Maisuma shortly after the Friday paryers, sources said.

JKLF had called for Lal Chowk march after a TADA court in Jammu awarded life sentence to two of its members for killing a BSF officer.

Police fired dozens of teargas shells and used batons to chase away stone-pelters. However, no one was hurt in the clashes which continued for a few hours bringing normal life in the area to a standstill, sources said.

Malik has also threatened a 'Jail baro' agitation.
