Police today foiled an attempt on the life of an undertrial prisoner in a court premises in Hanumangarh and arrested two criminals with four loaded pistols, a senior official said.

SP, Hanumangarh, Sharat Kaviraj said the accused wanted to take revenge of a sensational murder in Hisar court in neighbouring Haryana which occurred last month.

One of the accused, who hails from Haryana, also opened fire to create panic when police caught him but no one injured in the incident and the two were caught, he said.

"Haryana police had shared with us intelligence input that a gang of Haryana was planning to kill rival gang leader Sajjan alias Kalia, who is lodged in a jail in Hanumangarh, to take revenge of a murder, so preventive measures were taken today before Sajjan was produced before the court," he said.

"SHO of Bhadra Police Station himself went to the court before Sajjan was taken and caught two suspected persons," said the SP.

As the policemen surrounded them, they tried to flee and one of them opened fire but no one injured, he said, adding that they were held and four loaded country-made pistols were recovered from their possession.

The SP said that the accused came Hanumangarh from Haryana in car which has also been seized.

The accused Bittu And Vikas, in interrogation, revealed that they wanted to kill Sajjan during hearing today in court to take revenge of a killing that occurred less than a month back in a Hisar court, the SP said.
