Delhi government today told the High Court that it proposes to take the help of the city police in ensuring the security in and around observation homes housing minors in conflict with law.
A bench of justices S Ravindra Bhat and R V Easwar found merit in the government's proposals which include appointment of a Joint Commissioner-level officer to coordinate the help that will be provided by the police when needed.
The government also told the court that it intends to appoint an Assistant Commissioner of Police rank officer as a nodal officer.

The court was also informed that approval for deploying officers of Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) at observation homes has been given and the same shall be done in a day or two.
In February this year, after some juveniles escaped from an observation home here, the high court had directed the city government to immediately deploy DGR personnel at such probation homes.
