A 54-year-old police informer's car was allegedly attacked by four persons here in Maharashtra, a police official said Sunday.

Damji Bhanushali was returning home along with his son and a friend when four motorcycle-borne men tried to intercept his car near the Viviana Mall in the wee hours of Saturday.

They allegedly attacked his vehicle with hockey sticks and damaged it, Thane police spokesperson Sukhada Narkar said.

However, his son kept driving the vehicle and sped away, she said.

Bhanushali later filed a complaint at the Chitalsar police station in connection with the incident.

He mentioned in his complaint that earlier this month and last month also some people had threatened him and tried to attack him as he had tipped the police about some bookies operating in Thane, Narkar said.

The man said he had complained to police earlier also about such threats.

Based on his complaint, the police registered offences against the four accused under IPC sections pertaining to wrongful confinement, unlawful assembly, rioting, criminal intimidation and mischief, Narkar said.

No arrest has been made so far in this connection, she added.
