A police inspector was today arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant, Anti-Corruption Bureau said.

"We have arrested police inspector Ashok Kashiram Gajbhiye, 57, attached to Kanjur Marg police station, while he was accepting Rs 20,000 from complainant at his residence in Bhandup," said a statement issued by the ACB.

The complainant, staying under Kanjur Marg police station limits, has two cases respectively under MRTP and IPC.

Both the cases are being investigated by Gajbhiye and chargesheets against the complainant have already been filed, it said.

The chargesheets are pending for trial before court in Mulund and Gajbhiye was demanding money from the complainant through his private sources for favouring him during the trial, the statement said.

Gajbhiye and another person, Sushilkumar Umashankar Diwedi, have been arrested, the ACB said.

On June 11, the ACB had caught an inspector at Borivali police station for accepting bribe.
