A Police Inspector has been arrested by the DVAC wing officials while receiving Rs 10,000 as bribe from a farmer for favouring him in a land dispute.
Ilanchezhian, attached to Sivagiri police station, had allegedly demanded the bribe amount from the farmer, who approached him for further action on his complaint on a land dispute, DVAC Deputy Superintendent, Parkunam said today.
His complaint had earlier been forwarded by the Superintendent of Police himself on the recommendation of the District Collector.
DVAC officials, on a complaint from the farmer, set a trap and caught him red handed while receiving the bribe last night at the Sivagiri police station, he said.
