Police inspector murder case: 2 accused acquitted

A local court has acquitted two persons, accused of murdering a police officer, due to lack of evidence.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Ombir Singh yesterday acquitted Amit and Pankaj due to lack of evidence in police inspector Uday Pratap Singh's murder case here.

According to the prosecution, the SHO of Khatoli police station was shot dead when he tried to arrest the accused on the Delhi Dehradun National Highway near Mansurpur in the district on March 6, 2006.

Later, one of the accused was killed in an encounter while Amit and Pankaj were arrested in connection with the incident.
