Police inspector shot dead in UP, two arrested

A police official was killed and a youth injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on them here.

Inspector In-charge of City Kotwali Police Station, Anil Kumar (55) was putting up at a hotel here. He, along with a youth, came out on the street last night when three motorcycle-borne assailants shot at them, police said.

They were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared Kumar dead, they said.

Two persons were later arrested on the basis of a complaint made by the injured youth. Police arrested Raju Soni and Zeeshan with three countrymade revolvers, cartridges and a motorcycle.
