Police claimed to have rescued 14 oxen from a truck while they were being illegally transported in Rajasthan's Bundi district today, officials said.

Police have lodged a case under sections of Cow Protection Act against unidentified persons, however, they managed to flee the spot, Station House Officer Laxman Singh said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted a truck carrying 14 oxen, aged between four and five, on NH-52 in Hindoli town here, he said.

The rescued oxen were sent to a goushala in Bundi city, he said, adding a hunt is on for the accused.
