Police invokes PD Act against two ganja smugglers

Police today invoked stringent AP Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Drug Offenders Act 1986, popularly known as PD Act, against two persons for allegedly peddling cannabis and detained them.

The move came following the instructions of the district administration to sternly deal with smugglers of the contraband, a senior police officer said.

The duo are identified as T Koteswara Rao (22), a native of Ratnampeta, and S Lova Raju (34), belonging to BB Patnam.

Koteswara Rao is accused in seven cases of smuggling of ganja besides a murder case and the officials have seized 1660 kgs of dry ganja, three cars, a jeep, a van and two motorcycles from him in connection with the cases earlier.
 

Similarly, Lova Raju is also accused in seven cases related to the ganja trade and Excise officials had earlier seized 1087 kgs of dry ganja, a car, a lorry, two autorickshas and two bikes from him.
