Police lathi-charge to disperse DYFI members

Police today resorted to lathi-charge to disperse Democratic Youth Federation of India activists who tried to take out a procession here without permission.

Police said the DYFI members had organised the procession to press for communal harmony and when police said they did not have the requisite permission they started blocking the road and started indulging in violence.

Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse them and more than five persons were injured as they fell down while running for cover,police said.

Later, 200 DYFI activists were arrested for trying to take out the procession without permission, police added.
