Police today resorted to mild cane charge after a mob tried to disrupt a function organised here to celebrate the birth anniversary of RSS ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhaya.
The function was organised by Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya Samriti Manch at Ram Lila Maidan here, where artists and singers from the state were invited.
A large number of people gathered to see their performances. During the function, a group of people started making noises and demanded a particular artist to perform on the stage, police said.
The organisers stopped the performance midway as people started making noises. Angry over this, people started raising slogans, following which police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the unruly crowd, police said.
Sonepat MP Ramesh Kaushik was the chief guest of the function while BJP leader OP Pashal presided over it.
