While political parties are yet to start electioneering for by-election to Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat in Odisha, police have launched a campaign appealing to voters to exercise their franchise on October 15 without any fear or favour.

"We have set up two control rooms - an election control room and a district control room - to receive election-related information and queries from voters," Superintendent of Police Kanwar Vishal Singh said.

The control rooms are functioning 24x7.

Banners, mentioning telephone numbers of the control room, election control room and SP (Kandhamal), have been put up at different places in the district as part of the campaign which was launched yesterday.

Nine flying squads and same number of static surveillance teams have been formed to check illegal flow of money, gold, arms and other suspicious items during the run-up to the byelection.
