The police and district magistrates today discussed measures for holding the February six Cuttack Municipal Corporation elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

CMC election officer Laxmidhar Mohanty said at a meeting that the city has been divided into five zones and 20 sectors.

A zone would be under the observation of a poll observer and a sector officer would head a sector to oversee poll arrangements in at least three wards, he said.

It was decided that the model code of conduct for the elections would be enforced and violators prosecuted.

DCP S Praveen Kumar said the city has been divided into eight sectors and five zones for maintaining law and order.

Stating that 39 mobile police teams would go around the city to ensure enforcement of the model code of conduct, he said "A sector will be headed by an ACP and a zone would be under the supervision of an additional DCP."

Proper police arrangements would be made on the date of polling and on the date of counting, he said.
