Police-mob clash leaves 3 injured

A teenaged boy and two policemen were injured in a clash between the police and a mob in Mallarpur area of Birbhum district today, police said.

The clash ensued after the mob went ahead with a procession to a particular area where the police had not given them permission to go.

Police vainly tried to convince them and when the situation went out of control, the men in uniform used rubber bullets to disperse the mob.

Police said a teenager was injured as a rubber bullet hit him and the mob started pelting stones on the police injuring two of them.
 

The injured teenager and the policemen were hospitalised and their condition was stable.

The mob also put up a road block and damaged some vehicles at Mallarpur, police said.

At least 10 persons were detained in connection with the incident.
