Police nabs extortionist in Kakrola area

Delhi Police Crime Branch have arrested a proclaimed offender involved in several kidnapping and robbery cases, police said today.

The accused has been identified as Sonu Thakur (25) from Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. He came to Delhi in search of a job and turned out into an extortionist, operating in southwest Delhi, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.

A court declared him a proclaimed offender in connection with the kidnapping for ransom case registered at Dwarka (South) police station. An attempt to murder case against him was also registered at southwest Delhi's Bindapur police station, said Yadav.
 

He was also previously involved in three cases of robbery and Arms Act. Based on a tip-off, the police laid a trap and nabbed Sonu from southwest Delhi's Kakrola area, Yadav added.
