Police nabs gang involved in several robbery, murder cases

Jammu and Kashmir police today claimed of solving a blind murder case and several robbery cases by arresting a three-member gang here.

On a tip off, a police party intercepted a car at TRC Srinagar which was used in different robbery cases and three persons identified as Mohammad Khalil Najar alias Yawar, Icon Parvaiz alias Majid and Faheem Malik, all residents of Hazratbal here boarding the vehicle were arrested, a police spokesman said.

During investigation, he said, it surfaced that they were involved in various robbery cases.

Two among them along with another associate namely Mehrajudin Dar alias Makooda, a resident of Maisuma locality here were involved in a murder case.
 

They had strangulated Mehrajudin Bhat, a resident of Kralyar Rainawari, with the shoe lace after snatching Rs 18,000 from him last month, the spokesman said.

They were also involved in many robbery cases in different areas of the city, he said.

Further investigation led to the recovery of a wallet containing identity card, driving license and documents, a rope, Tavera vehicle, snatched mobile phones, ATM card, cash with two toy pistols and a sharp-edged knife, the spokesman said.
