An ULFA(I) linkman was arrested by the police in Sonitpur district of Assam, the police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, the police apprehended the linkman, identified as Kishore Baruah, who had gone to collect money on behalf of the outfit, from Balipara area of the district last night, Sonitpur Superintendent of Police Sanjukta Parashar said.
The linkman claimed that he was ULFA-I Commander Chief Paresh Barua's nephew and was assigned to collect money for the outfit, Parashar said.
The police recovered Rs 2.21 lakh, five mobile phones, three press identity cards of local television channels and a vehicle.
