Police officer arrested for taking bribe

A police officer was arrested for allegedly taking bribe from a man to execute a bail bond in Cuttack, vigilance department said today.

On a complaint, vigilance sleuths laid a trap and Assistant Sub-Inspector of Sadar police station in Cuttack Achutananda Sahu was caught red handed while he was taking Rs 2,000 from one Fakira Behera on Friday, a Vigilance department release said here.

The bribe amount was recovered from Sahu and seized in presence of witnesses, it said.

Sahu was remanded in jail custody till May 16 by a court here.
