A doctor couple was allegedly beaten up by a police officer after they got into a quarrel on a national highway here, police said today.
Station Officer (Majhola) Surender Pal Singh Yadav was sent to police lines and a magisterial enquiry has been initiated on the complaint of the couple, they said.
According to the complaint, Veebha Malik, a pathologist, and her paediatrician husband Yogender Kumar Poonia from Moradabad were passing National Highway 24 when they received a phone call from their daughter.

Poonia stopped the car on the side and was talking over the phone when Yadav stopped his jeep and started enquiring them which led to a quarrel.
The couple, specially the lady doctor, was beaten up by Yadav, who was in an inebriated condition. Malik suffered a nose fracture and injuries on her face, the complaint said.
Malik claimed that a complaint was registered only after the intervention of DIG Amarinder Singh Sengar.
DIG Sengar said Yadav had been attached to police lines and Additional District Magistrate (City) Praveen Mishra has been deputed to investigate into the matter.
Meanwhile, Indian Medical Association (IMA) President of Moradabad, Dr Archana Aggarwala, has warned the administration that all doctors will go on strike from tomorrow if no action is taken.
"The administration has promised us that it will provide justice and we will wait till tomorrow before going on strike," she said.
