The officer-in-charge of Kankartala police station in West Bengal's Birbhum district was removed on Wednesday in connection with the murder of a ruling Trinamool Congress leader of Khairasole, police said.
Dipak Ghosh, the Khayrasole block president of the TMC, was shot at and critically by unidentified miscreants when he was travelling on a motorcycle along with a party worker near his home at Khairasole on Sunday. He had died the next day at a private hospital in Durgapur.
Police said Parthasarathi Mukherjee, the OC of Kankartala police station was removed and replaced by Partho Ghosh.
The dead TMC leader's wife Mithu Ghosh had lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday in which she named 15 people, the police said.
On the basis of the complaint the police had arrested four persons, including a local BJP leader, the same day, the police said.
The Birbhum district TMC president Anubrata Mondal had alleged that goons hired by BJP had attacked Ghosh.

The BJP district president Ramkrishna Roy denied the allegations and claimed that TMC group rivalry was behind the attack of Ghosh.
"Police arrested Dubrajpur resident and leader of our unorganized labour cell Chinmoy Das just to appease TMC leaders," he alleged.
Ghoshs elder brother Ashok Ghosh, the former block president of TMC was killed in a similar way in 2013.
