BJP today demanded sacking of Karnataka minister K J George over his alleged role in the mysterious death of a deputy superintendent of police (DySP) as it attacked Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for "turning a blind eye" to events in states ruled by the party.

Targeting Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, the party said he believed in "photo-op tourism" over incidents in the BJP-ruled states as he frequented them to grab eyeballs but pretends that nothing happens in Congress-run states.

BJP spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao told a press conference that a series of incidents had taken place in Karnataka where government officers were victimised by ministers and a "muscle man" close to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

"It indicates an organised foul play. DySP M K Ganapati died under mysterious circumstances. He had named Town Planning Minister K J George in an interview earlier as the one who should be held responsible if anything happens to him.

"George should be sacked and the state government should order a CBI probe," Rao said.

Another police officer, Kalappa Handibag, was found dead recently under mysterious circumstances and a muscle man close to the CM abused a district collector, he claimed, adding that no action was taken on his complaint for many days.

"Sonia and Rahul Gandhi have gone into a deep slumber. They have turned a blind eye to major incidents in their state. They should apologise to the people. Rahul Gandhi has time to visit states where he can do politics," he said, attacking the Congress top brass.
