The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council has summoned a superintendent of police to the House tomorrow for allegedly failing to take a call from a legislator.
Chairman Ramesh Yadav summoned Pilibhit SP Balendu Bhushan Singh after Samajwadi Party MLC Shatrudra Prakash raised the matter in the House today.
Prakash said he had called Singh last Tuesday, but was informed that he gone somewhere with District Magistrate Akhilesh Mishra.
The MLC said he then called Mishra and asked him to give the phone to the SP. But the police officer did not speak to him, he claimed.
"This amounts to breach of privilege of a member of the Legislative Council and the entire House," Prakash said, adding that the SP should be summoned and questioned.
Dinesh Chandra (BSP), Deepak Singh (Congress), Ashish Kumar (Apna Dal-S) and Devendra Pratap (BJP) supported Prakash.
Yadav then issued orders that Singh be present before the House tomorrow at 1.00 pm and explain his stand.
