A police official was arrested in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district today for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a person to save him from the charges in various cases levelled against him.

SHO Falsoond, Mohan Lal was arrested for accepting the amount at his office, DIG (ACB) S K Narjari said.

Dhan Singh, a resident of Jaisalmer, in his complaint had mentioned that five cases, in connection with a family feud, were registered against him at Falsoon police station of the district, Narjari said.

Two cases had been settled amicably while 3 cases had been pending investigation.

According to the complaint, Mohan Lal was threatening Singh to open his history-sheet if the demand for Rs 60,000 was not met.

The deal was, however, settled at Rs 51,000.

"Singh gave Rs 13,000 to Mohan Lal in April and was being harassed by the SHO to give the remaining amount," the ACB official said.

Following which, Singh approached ACB and after verification of his complaint a trap was laid to arrest Mohan Lal, Narjari said.
