Police are on the lookout for a gang posing as police personnel and relieving people of their valuables in some parts in nearby Tirupur city.
The gang members advise people to remove their valuables and give it to them. They put the valuables in a cover but then distract the people, returning the cover after removing the valuables.
The people realise their folly only when they reach their destinations, police said.

Such incidents were reported in some places in the city, including Kanakkampalayam and Anupparpalayam during the last 20 days, police said.
On Saturday night at Thennampalayam, a youth stopped 63-year-old man, posing as a CB-CID official. He asked the man to remove his gold chain and cash, took it, packed it in a piece of paper, and gave it back to him, advising him to be careful of robbers.
The man realised his folly only when he checked the cover and found it contained only pieces of paper. Police said he was robbed of a 12-gram gold chain and Rs 10,000.
