Police on lookout for woman bank clerk for siphoning money

: Police are on the lookout for a woman clerk of a private bank at nearby Pollachi,who allegedly siphoned of Rs 14 lakh from the account of a farmer over a period of time.

Police said the man's savings account, with a balance of Rs.18 lakh had remained inoperative for the last four years and that when he went to deposit some cash, he found that Rs 14.13 lakh withdrawn from the account.

Based on the complaint, the bank filed a complaint with police, which was shifted to the District Crime Branch, they said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman clerk had misappropriated the amount. A case under various sections of IPC, including forgery, cheating and criminal breach of trust filed against her, they said.
 

A hunt is on to trace the woman, who is reportedly absconding.
