Police on the lookout for cheating gang

Police here are on the look out for a gang who had cheated some businessmen to the tune of several lakhs by selling "fake king cobra snake stone", popularly known in Tamil as "nagarathinakal".

According to Police "the entire sale of Nagarathinakal is done by some unknown persons hailing from Kerala to some businessmen in Tamil Nadu. The sale takes place in a lodge room. They come to us only after realised that there is no such thing as "snake stone" and they had been given fake stones. By the time they come to us, it is very late" said a police official.
 

The gang had come from Moonar, Megamalai and Maraiyur areas in Kerala. "They make the ordinary stone shine by coating it with radium and cheat the people" police said.

Police investigation revealed that the gang members collected upto Rs 10 lakh as advance even to exhibit the stone to the gullible businessmen.

The businessmen from Karur,Tiruppur and coimbatore were among those cheated by the gang.The stone is displayed in a bamboo cup stuffed with cotton.

Police were now analysing the CCTV recordings of the hotels to find out the gang members.
