A police team stationed at a check post signalled the car to stop but it took a sudden U-turn and attempted to speed away, following which Inspector Venkatachalam fired at the car to deflate the tyre, police said.
One of the occupants suffered injury in the leg in the incident, police said.
All the four have been taken into custody and the injured, said to be involved in real estate business, has been admitted to a hospital, police said.
