Police prevent marriage of minor boy

Haryana Police today successfully prevented a child marriage to be solemnized at village Ujhana in this district.

Acting on a complaint, Assistant of the team of Child Marriage Prohibition Office, Ravi Lohan along with Police Station in-charge, Brijbhan reached the spot of marriage and prevented the marriage of a 16-year-old boy after speaking to the family.

The team immediately asked the family to produce birth related documents, an official spokesman said here. It was then discovered that the groom was just 16-years-old and was a student of class IX.

The investigations further revealed that the wedding procession of groom was to go to village Loharu of district Bhiwani tomorrow.
 

The team immediately informed the parents of bride that the groom is minor and marriage would only take place only when he would become major else they would have face legal actions, the spokesman said.

The parents of the groom also submitted in written that they would not marry off their son till he attains marriageable age.
