Visva Bharati Vice-Chancellor Sushanta Duttagupta was today questioned by the police in connection with a complaint lodged by the father of a Sikkimese girl student who was allegedly molested and sexually harassed by three of her seniors.

A team from Bolpur police station led by SDPO Bolpur Surya Prasad Yadav reached the Central Office of Visva Bharati and questioned the VC for around 30 minutes.

"We had received a complaint last week from the father of a Kala Bhavan student that the university VC had misbehaved with him when he met him to seek justice for his daughter.

"We had gone to verify the complaint and seek some details," Yadav said after the team met Duttagupta.

When contacted, the VC's office declined to comment on the visit of the police team.

The Sikkimese girl had lodged a complaint with university authorities in late August that three students of her department and an outsider had sexually harassed her and clicked photos with their mobile phones and threatened to blackmail her with those.
