Police raids lodge at Kasarwadavali and rescues 11 girls

Officials of the Social Security Branch of the Crime Unit of Thane police raided a lodge here late tonight and rescued as many as 11 girls, the police said.

Police inspector Mandan Ballal of the social service branch who lead the raid told PTI that the raid was carried out under the PITA Act, after directions from Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singal.

Shreya Lodge at Kasarwadavali was raided at about 9 pm and the girls were rescued.

The police also arrested the Pravin Shetty, the manager of the lodge, two stewards and one customer.

Cash worth Rs 23,000 was seized during the raid, the police said.
