Stating the duo hailed from Lisad village in Prabudhnagar district, police said, the man was arrested and sent to 14 days judicial remand by a local court where the woman was produced for her statement.
The court directed that she be sent to a women's protective home.
The couple had decided to marry despite disapproval of the girl's parents and eloped from Lisad village on June 5, police said, adding, a case was registered two days later against the man for eloping with the woman.
On June 12, a khap panchayat had given an ultimatum to the district authorities to recover the woman and asked the people to boycott the man's family.
