The fixed term teachers who decided to sit on dharna at R-Block after failure of talks with the state government late last evening were removed by the police later in the night.

Sources in the district police said the agitators were removed to ensure smooth flow of traffic at the place which is enroute to Patna junction. Leader of the protesting teachers Pradip Kumar Pappu alleged that police used force to disperse them.

The talks between state Education minister P K Shahi and school teachers appointed on contract ended without conclusion late last evening.

Over two lakh teachers on contract have been getting Rs 6,000 per month as honorarium.

Shahi had said last night that solution to such issue cannot be found in one day. He said further talks would be held with the contractual teachers later this month.

The agitating teachers had organised a rally in Patna in support of their demand yesterday. Opposition RJD is supporting the agitating teachers.

They have decided to protest against the state government including burning effigy of the CM tomorrow across the state.

The agitating teachers have staged violent protest against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in different parts of the state during his 'Adhikar Yatra'.
