Police rescue a village head and his son from Naxalites

The abducted village head (Mukhiya) and his son were today rescued from the clutches of the Naxalites in Bihar's Munger district, the police said.

Superintendent of Police Ashish Bharti, who himself led one of the three rescue operations, said that Bhola Verma, the village head of Dariyapur panchayat and his son Shambhu Verma had been safely rescued from the clutches of the Naxalites.

More than 12 Naxalites had on March 22 kidnapped the village head and his son from Dariyapur village and were taken to a nearby jungle.

Massive combing operations were launched with the help of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Special Task Force (STF) to rescue the kidnapped duo, the SP said and added that the police raided a place in jungles located on the hill top near Kharagpur lake after getting the location from its technical cell.

 

The police arrested one Naresh Koda from the place from where the kidnapped father and son were freed, the SP said adding that the policemen who were involved in the operations would be rewarded.
