Police rescues shopkeeper from kidnappers

A sweet shop owner, who was kidnapped on November 2, was today released with the arrest of six kidnappers, including a woman, from village Kharkhari of neighbouring Hapur district, police said.

According to SP (city) Rajesh Kumar, sweet shop owner Ashok, was kidnapped on November 2 last from near village Rahmapur of Aurangabad area in the district while he was returning home after closing his shop.

A ransom of Rs 80 lakh was reportedly demanded from the victim's family, police said.

Working on call details of the kidnappers, police nabbed the mastermind, a suspended Patwari Rajkumar of village Rahmapur, along with five others, including a woman, Kumar said.
 

Rajkumar is nephew of Ashok and currently posted at sadar tehsil of Azamgarh district. He is under suspension for some time and required money for his reinstatement and hatched the plan to kidnap Ashok, the SP said.
