Ruling out any possibility of foul play into the death of a Kerala-origin film writer based in the city for several years, police today claimed that it was an "accidental" death.

"Postmortem of the body was conducted today and medicos are of the view that it was an accidental death. There is no possibility of any foul play," investigating officer Hariram Singh said.

However, the final report of the postmortem is awaited, Singh said.

On April 18, the body of Iyer was found by the house owner of his rented apartment, who broke open the door after the neighbours complained of foul smell emanating from his apartment, they said.
