Acting in the nick of time, the coastal police and locals today saved about a dozen youngsters from drowning in sea at the Bandstand in suburban Bandra, a top officer said.
"As many eleven youngsters were sitting on a rock near the Bandstand this afternoon when they were hit by a huge tidal wave," said Mumbai police spokesperson and DCP Deepak Deoraj.
Alerted by the alarm raised by the group, a team of coastal police with the help of locals pulled them out to safety.
"The rescued were in age group of 20-25 years," he said.
