Police have seized 14 bags of sugar meant for the consumers of Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) department during a raid on a private store in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said today.
Acting on a tip-off, seven quintals of sugar packed in 14 bags meant for the CA&PD department were recovered during the raid in Pangai village yesterday, the police official said.
Mohammad Iqbal, the ration dealer, had hidden the sugar in a newly built house and used to sell it at high rates to some traders of the area, the official said, adding the accused however managed to escape.
A case has been registered and hunt is on to nab the accused, the police official said.
