A case has been registered against the Kundarki police station in-charge in Moradabad district after locals staged protest alleging that he had murdered a casual worker after calling him to his residence, a senior police officer said today.
"Station officer of Kundarki Pankaj Yadav is accused of murder and a case has been registered against him under IPC section 302 (punishment for murder)," Moradabad deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Durga Charan Mishra said.
Yadav allegedly called Zahid, who does odd jobs at the police station, to his official residence yesterday.

Zahid was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
His father claimed Zahid told him that Yadav had fired the shot, and alleged that police officers who accompanied him to his residence with the body threatened him with dire consequences if he informed others about the incident.
But the incident came into light sparking strong protests by locals who blocked the Moradabad-Agra highway yesterday night.
The accused station officer and those policemen who allegedly threatened Zahid's father are absconding, the DIG said.
