A permanent police station was set up today at Sonprayag on the way to Kedarnath for the convenience of devotees during the forthcoming annual yatra to the Himalayan shrine beginning next month.
Located in Rudraprayag district, Sonprayag is the most important high altitude stopover on way to the famous temple.
It was formally inaugurated by Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police Prahlad Narayan Meena, a release from the state police headquarters here said.

The police station is in keeping with an announcement made in this regard by Governor K K Paul recently.
The police station has a staff strength of 23 and is headed by Sub-inspector Subodh Kumar Mamgain.
