The report, submitted by the district SP before the court of Chief Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Joymalyo Bagchi, stated that five villagers and 27 policemen were injured when attempts were made by the police to retrieve a payloader that was being held by residents of Loba village.

The report stated that though there were claims of villagers having been injured in police firing, a report by the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital authorities said that no foreign body was found in the two injured persons who were treated there.

The hospital report was also annexed in the report, which was submitted on a previous direction by the court.

The court had directed the police to file the report following a petition moved by Bikash Bhattacharya and Rabishankar Chattoapdhyay seeking constitution of a special investigative team for an inquiry by an independent agency and compensation to the injured.

The matter would appear before the court again on Friday.
